"What is the power of faith?"

Mark 11:12-14
‘The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it.'

Mark 11:20 The withered fig tree
‘In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”
“Have faith in God,”
Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Christ dwells in us through faith
Ephesians 3:16-19
"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

The consequence of little faith:
Mark 6:4-6
Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honour,” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

Fear the opposite of faith
Mark 4:37-40
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Faith can overcome death

Mark 5:35-36
While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead.” They said, “Why bother the teacher any more?”
Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid, just believe.”

….The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him.
…He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up!”) Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was telve years old). At this they were completely astonished."
